piece*unique started in 2015 as a new art/project/space in Cologne, Germany, spotlighting on a single and outstanding work of art and of course, the artist. The focus on just one artwork for a given moment in time is as clear and simple as it also offers an instant of essential luxury. We do not work as a gallery, rather our intention is to follow and revive the ambitions of art lovers, taking the artwork as a raison d‘etre, a cause for discourse and irritation, for involvement and joy, and even for risk – as it might also be an excusable desire to possess it.
piece*unique is based in Cologne, a city and region with a rich tradition and experience in any correlations of the Fine Arts. We do not have the urge of being new in what we do, but evident. Our intention is to introduce or recall important artistic positions, that are not presented by galleries of the Cologne-Rhine area. We collaborate with international galleries and develop our presentations in dialogue with the artists.
